Our Mission
The mission of Covenant Christian Day School (CCDS), a non-denominational Christian ministry, is to serve committed families in the Guilford County area with a Bible-based education program. Our coveted, diverse student population is guided in developing a life-long personal commitment to Jesus Christ, in building Christian character, and in pursuing academic excellence. Our dedicated staff and balanced curriculum build a foundation for students to develop their God-given potentials.

Our Vision
Our vision at CCDS is to be recognized throughout the community as an experienced leader in quality preparatory education that teaches a diverse student body to become productive and engaged citizens with an enduring faith in the Word of God and a Christian perspective on life.

Our History
CCDS began in August of 1980. The school was birthed out of a vision that founding pastor, Roger Wiles, had for Christian education. The school is part of the ministry of Christ Covenant Church. The church is an independent, non-denominational, evangelical church. A small church of 65 people in the first year of their existence decided to make a commitment and investment in a Christian school. The church had just purchased a building from Asbury United Methodist Church. It was located at 1414 Cliffwood Drive in Greensboro, NC. The school opened with a total enrollment of 45 students in grades K4-10, 3 faculty members, an administrator, and principal.

In January 1981 it became accredited with the state of North Carolina. By 1986, CCDS’ enrollment had grown to 150 students. Parents had raised money to establish a library. The school joined ACSI and began hosting student activity events. The Board of Deacons of CCC began acting as the Advisory Council for CCDS. In June 1987, CCDS received its first accreditation with ACSI. In May of 1991, Pastor Roger Wiles resigned and Pastor David Longobardo became the new pastor of CCC.

The next years were years of re-building for the school. The school agreed to expand to middle school and added one grade at a time. An athletic program was developed with the addition of a middle school. The Crusaders was the name given as the mascot for all the athletic teams. In ’93-’94 CCDS experienced another transition in leadership. ACSI’s renewal visit was in April 1995. CCDS continued to grow and reached a record enrollment in the ’96-’97 school year of 250 students K3-8th grades.

CCDS was the first school in Guilford County to receive joint accreditation with the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and Southern Association of Schools and Colleges (SACS) in ’01-’02.

Throughout the twenty-four year history of CCDS, God’s provision has been constant.

In 2005, Christ Covenant Church and Covenant Christian Day School purchased over 42 acres of land on Glendale Drive in Greensboro, with the intent to expand the current school and to begin a high school.
